Our product designs: Our products are designed in California and feature vibrantly colored nylon webbing materials complemented by handsome, black colored hardware. This design theme is proprietary to our Free-Hand product line and is the subject of one of the Trademarks owned by our company, as is our stylized outstretched "handprint".
Brightly colored nylon webbing: All of the webbing we use in our products is made from nylon, the best we can find in the world, and we make our products available in 16 different colors. To our knowledge, we are the only manufacturer who offers its products in this many different colors. Unfortunately, many of the brightly colored nylon webbing materials we require for our products are no longer being made in the US , and so much of the nylon webbing used in our products is actually produced in other countries.
Black steel rivet fasteners: Most other manufacturers of webbing-based products use conventional sewing with thread to fabricate the various parts of their products. As we wanted a higher quality "look and feel" to our products, we use attractive, industrial-strength steel rivet fasteners instead of sewing. These fasteners are plated with a permanent Black finish which is resistant to rust and corrosion. We use two types of rivet fasteners in our products. In our 1" nylon webbing products, we use a fastener that is the same as used by automobile manufacturers in making seat belts. For our 5/8" nylon webbing products, such as our innovative Multi-Lead, we use a fastener that is typically used by leather goods manufacturers in making products such as work boots and tool pouches. Both of these black rivet fasteners are strong, permanent and visually attractive when set against the bright colors of our nylon webbing-based products.
Black plastic and steel hardware: In keeping with the design philosophy behind our Free-Hand products, all of the hardware items we use in our products are a lustrous black in color. Like our rivet fasteners, our hardware items are visually attractive when set against the bright colors of the nylon webbing we use in making our products. In those parts of our products that don't require the strength of steel, we use strong injection molded plastic components of tough, weather resistant nylon or acetal. For those parts of our products that need to be strong and unbreakable under any circumstances, like our D-Rings and Snap hooks, we use parts made of high-grade steel or cast bronze and zinc.
High Quality Trigger Snap Hooks vs. the ordinary: Speaking of snap hooks, we go an extra measure here and employ high strength Trigger Snap Hooks typically found only in marine applications. We use Trigger Snap Hooks because they are easier to manipulate with one hand than conventional snap hooks. Trigger Snap Hooks have a "trigger" on the side that is easy to activate when you want to open the "hook". Unlike conventional snap hooks which are sometimes difficult to use -even with both hands - but are inexpensive and thus widely used on similar kinds of products, our Trigger Snap Hooks are a "breeze to use" with one hand, and help to further differentiate our products from those of other manufacturers.
Our Slide Pull : Special notice is called to our Slide Pull which is used to expand the size of the wrist loop on every one of our Free-Hand Safety Wrist Strap products. We needed this part to be flexible yet strong, and we needed it to able to stand up to all kinds of punishment from sun and bad weather, and from users tugging on it year after year. After much searching for an "off-the-shelf" part that would work for us, we elected to design it ourselves and have it molded for us.
This is the original drawing we sent to our plastic molder in the state of Washington.

We feel the molding company did a wonderful job of meeting our requirements for this part. We think the visual "whimsy" of this part enhances the overall appearance of every one of our products.
